This Workshop is geared toward students who are auditioning for college programs or want to improve their audition package and skills. Students are led through the audition process in a mock audition setting. Students should come prepared with two songs/ 32 bar cuts( no longer than 90 secs each). They should be contrasting styles, preferably one pre-1970 and the second, post-1970 or pop song. Students auditioning for college should bring a monologue of their choice. The day will start with a dance audition led by Kaitlyn Frank. All students will be evaluated and given helpful hints on how to stand out at a dance call, even if you're not the most confident dancer.
Following the dance call, the students will have a break to change into their audition clothes. Then, one by one, they will be asked to sing their two songs and perform their monologue ( if applicable ) in front of the panel. A pianist will be provided, and each student should have their music in a book cut and ready for the pianist. After the audition, students will return as a group, and each student will receive feedback and get a chance to work on their audition package with the panel.

Kaitlyn Frank, Kaitlyn is a NYC based actor, teacher and choreographer. Kaitlyn has been seen on Broadway in My Fair Lady at the Vivian Beaumont at Lincoln Center Theatre and on the National Tours of Disney's Newsies, My Fair Lady and Irving Berlin's White Christmas. Kaitlyn originated the role of Annleigh in the Off-Broadway premier of We Are The Tigers, a new musical and was featured in the film version of Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical on Disney Plus. Other NYC credits include New York City Center, The Signature Theatre, Playwrights Horizons and the Joyce Theatre. Kaitlyn has also performed with the American Tap Dance Foundation and Boston Company under choreographers including Michelle Dorrance and Brenda Buffalino. In addition to JPAC, Kaitlyn is on faculty at Broadway Dance Center and is the co-director of the Emerson College BFA Musical Theatre Pre-College program from 2018-2020. Kaitlyn has choreographed at Carnegie Hall's Zanken Hall, Musical Theatre Factory, Little Theatre on The Square, and The Tank in NYC. Kaitlyn is graduate from the Emerson College Musical theatre program.
Joanne Fenton has been a vocal coach and director for 20 years. She has her BFA in music and vocal performance from SUNY Purchase and an undergraduate degree in communication disorders specializing in speech and voice from SUNY New Paltz. Joanne was a teaching artist student of the late Cornelious Reid, a renowned vocal pedagogue and specialist in the Bel Canto technique. She combined her knowledge of classical training with speech training to develop a cross-training approach that allows healthy singing of classic and contemporary/ belt styles. Joanne has been the artistic director of JPAC since 2001 and was the musical director at Masque and Mime from 2011-2016. She has directed countless shows over the past 20 years. Some of hose productions include Shrek, Hairspray, The Addams Family, Beauty, and the Beast, Seussical, and Into the Woods. This past summer, she directed the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Recently, Joanne has turned her focus to college audition preparation, which has become highly competitive. Because of her experience as a vocal coach and director, Joanne has walked students through auditioning for college programs for the past several years. Recent students who have participated in this program have received offers from Elon University, Emerson College, Marymount Manhattan, Pennsylvania State University, Rider University, Syracuse University, and the University of Miami, to name a few.
Emma Simon (she/her) is an actor, musician and teaching artist originally from Poughkeepsie, New York. After training as a classical flutist, she went on to study Vocal Performance at The Crane School of Music and acting at The Studio / New York under Jayd McCarty. She has performed professionally throughout the US and internationally in opera, operetta, musical theater and dramatic works.
Emma has been teaching young actors since 2016 and has taught clowning workshops at SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Plattsburgh, as well as at New York Stage and Film’s Actor Apprentice Program. She has studied clowning under Chris Bayes, David Shiner, Lucas Caleb Rooney and Phillipe Gaulier. In 2014 she was a founding member of Clown Gym, a weekly actor-driven lab that still continues today in New York City. She was introduced to chakra work through Beth McGuire’s voice and speech courses, where she was a teacher’s assistant for several years. This work was strengthened through her intensive studies with Fay Simpson and her Lucid Body Technique while training at The Studio/New York, her advanced teacher training with Beth McGuire and Jane Guyer Fujita, and while obtaining her 200 hr yoga teacher certification. She holds a BM in Vocal Performance from The Crane School of Music and an MA in Applied Theatre from The City University of New York. Currently, Emma is a faculty member in the Drama Department at The Brearley School in Manhattan, on the Education Committee for The Sharon Playhouse in Sharon, CT, and maintains her work as a freelance acting coach and teaching artist.
